Description
FORM + FUNCTION, an exploration of sculptural forms and functional fiber will open with a reception on Friday, January 19 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Oliver Art Center. The exhibition continues through February 16th. This exhibit is inspired by the design principles of Form and Function. "Form" will be represented by a 3D sculpture exhibit and "Function" will showcase functional fiber works. The exhibition will encompass the entire first floor of the Oliver Art Center with featured artists from around Michigan presenting 3D sculptural works and assemblages in wood, ceramic, metal and other materials in the Beck and Borwell galleries. A range of fiber and related functional work such as basketry, quilts, rugs, paper goods and wearable art will be displayed in the Fisher Room and North and South Exhibit Halls. Additionally, the galleries will include work created by artists in the community selected via an open call. An artist's talk and guided gallery tour will be scheduled during the exhibition. Visit OAC's website at www.oliverart.org for more information or phone 231-352-4151.
