All programs are free with a valid park entrance pass. Passes may be purchased at the Phillip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, Michigan, and cost $25 (per vehicle) for seven days, $45 for an annual Sleeping Bear Dunes pass, or $80 (or less) for the America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands pass series.
Description
"Stations of the Storm 1-3 pm Do you have what it takes to be a surfman? Test your skills at the Maritime Museum from 1-3 pm! Complete a series of stations as part of the rescue duties of the surfman stationed the Sleeping Bear Point Station. Lyle Gun Firing 2 pm The Lyle Gun is the only cannon ever designed to save lives, not take them. Watch the demonstration to find out more about this life-saving tool. The program begins promptly at 2 pm on the Maritime Museum grounds with a demonstration of the breeches buoy apparatus. Then, walk out to the beach for the firing of the Lyle Gun."
