“The Home Front During World War II” will be presented by Michael Nagle on Thursday, January 11th, at 4:00 p.m. as part of the Benzie Area Historical Society’s Benzonia Academy Lecture Series. The lecture will take place in person at The Mills Community House in Benzonia, live on Zoom, and recorded for later viewing on the Historical Society’s website, www.benziemuseum.org.
The United States entered World War II following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. The nation’s military mobilized and fought a war in Europe and the Pacific. But how did the war influence American society at home? How was the nation’s economy impacted? How did American involvement impact race relations and family life in Michigan and the rest of the country? Mike Nagle, West Shore Community College Professor of history and political science, will address these and other questions associated with the Home Front during the Second World War.
Michael W. Nagle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a Master of Arts in history from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. He teaches history and political science at West Shore Community College in Scottville, Michigan, where he serves as chair of the social sciences division. Nagle is an award-winning teacher and noted speaker covering a range of topics in American history, Michigan history, and student success and retention in the online classroom.
