SUMMARY:Writing Workshop Oliver Art Center
DESCRIPTION:Writing What You See - Ekphrastic Writing Workshop with Christine Arvidson Using the art-filled galleries at the Oliver Art Center as our jumping off point\, writers will respond to what they see before them and learn to use artwork as a tool to prompt reflective writing. Participants may choose to respond in poetry or prose or any combination of genres that works. The aim will be to finish the afternoon with the beginnings of several pieces of work for participants to then expand and/or revise. We will include time to read aloud first draft work should they choose. The workshop is suitable for all levels of writers\, from those cracking their first blank notebook\, to experienced writers who wish to spark their way into new work. Supplies necessary are only what you need to write (notebooks\, computers\, etc.). Participants will be encouraged to submit work for a poetry/art collaborative pop-up exhibition in the Fisher Classroom that will open roughly two weeks after the workshop.
