DESCRIPTION:The 27th Annual Northern Michigan Transplant Golf Outing   May 1\, 2021\n\n\n\nAfter taking a COVID break last year we are ready to get back to it!\n\n\n\nSave the date and get your registration in early.\n\n\n\nThis event began after Brady Cole received a liver transplant at the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital in 1991. As a way to give back\, Brady's parents (Jim Cole and Jeanne Hafer) established the outing to raise money to help subsidize the cost of transplant recipient participation in Camp Michitanki (Michigan Transplant Kids) summer camp. More detail about Camp Michitanki is provided on the back of this letter. This golf outing has been held each year since 1993 (except for 2020) and has raised over $100\,000 for the camp.\n\n\n\nThe outing details are as follows:\nSaturday\, May 1\, 2021\n\n\n\nChampion Hill Golf Course\n\n501 N. Marshall Rd\, Beulah\, MI 49617\n\n\n\n4 Person Scramble - Men's\, Women's or Mixed Teams\n\nCheck-In: 8:30am   9:30am (Near Club House)\n\nComplementary Driving Range: 8:30am   9:45am (Driving Range)\n\nShotgun Start: 10:00am   In your cart and ready by 9:45am\n\n\n\n$50 per person (Cash or check only)\n\nIncludes 18 holes of golf with cart\, lunch\, prizes\n\n\nPlease remember the purpose of this event is to raise money for the kids. Help us make this year's outing another great event. Campers spend six days each summer participating in a variety of activities and have the opportunity to develop life skills in a fun residential camp setting. Transplant nurses\, physicians\, social workers and other community volunteers work with professional camp staff to provide a "normal" and medically supervised camping experience. Children are divided by age and gender and assigned into cabin groups for the week. Camp Michitanki's home is at North Star Reach on beautiful Patterson Lake near Pinckney\, Michigan. Camp Michitanki is sponsored by the University of Michigan transplant center and welcomes nearly 100 children each summer. The approximate cost is $80\,000 each year.\n\n\n\nCOVID Update   The Camp was completely virtual last year. Each camper who registered for camp was sent a care package of supplies so that they could do activities "together" online. There were all-camp Zoom calls for all ages\, and there were smaller sessions for specific age groups each day. They had a brief all-camp activity in the morning and evening and then an hour or two age-group specific sessions each morning and afternoon. This summer will likely be conducted virtually as well. There is no charge for the children to attend camp\, regardless of whether in-person or virtual.\n\n\n\nNorth Star Reach is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located on 105 acres in Pinckney\, Michigan.\n\n\n\nMore information about this charity can be found at the following link: http://umtransplantevents.org/camp-michitanki
