Description
Each spring and fall we monitor our three local waterways: Betsie River, Platte River, and Herring Creek. We collect samples at three sites on each waterway. We rely on volunteers to assist us with this important work. Call us at (231) 882-4391 or email Mike at mike (at) benziecd.org to register or to ask any ?s. Our next event is: COLLECTION DAY-October 18, 2014 Join Mike Jones, Conservation Specialist, and head out to our three watersheds: the Betsie and Platte rivers, and Herring Creek to collect, well, bugs! After a brief introduction, we will divide into three teams: Platte River, Betsie River, and Herring Creek. Teams will carpool to each of their three monitoring sites. Come spend a day on the river learning about aquatic ecology! Date:Saturday, October 18, 2014 Time: 9 am to 3 pm Meet: Benzie Conservation District office at 280 S. Benzie Blvd. Bring: Waders or knee boots, wear outdoor attire. Also, we have extra waders and boots. When registering, please let Mike know your shoe size if you would like to borrow a pair.
